‘Something is being done’: Section 1 Athletics takes action after string of racist incidents

After a rash of racist incidents at sporting events, the body that oversees scholastic sports in the Lower Hudson Valley is close to adopting a uniform approach for investigating and responding to such incidents.

Section 1 Athletics hopes that its 79 member schools will soon agree to a policy and a series of procedures that all would use when fans or athletes engage in acts “against the dignity” of others. The goal is for a new system to be in place when fall sports begin.
